by Bob den Uyl, in Rotterdam, NL

This mural stands on the facade of the former National Education Museum (located here near the Boterslote from 1989 to 2012). Designed by the Rotterdam artist Toni Burgering as an ode to the Rotterdam writer Bob den Uyl, Rotterdam publicity about the piece calls it a curiosity. They also acknowledge that it fits with the function of the building, earlier (once the public library) and today as part of Erasmus University College. The report card enumerates recordkeeping and communication by teachers, administrators, and parents. Such a report could be a mark of hope for the future, as well as real and potential failures, though here it was meant to suggest the more felicitous path of writer den Uyl.
