“Works on paper” by Bernadette Floresca

In her works on paper, New Orleans-based artist and archivist Bernadette Floresca works with vintage papers, recycled from archives, to show textures created by use, purposes, and age. Her pieces are ones archivists especially will recognize in the complexity of feminist praxis, decolonizing spaces, and vocabulary used to describe individuals, groups, and materials. A few other examples of her work can be found at Kolaj, An International Directory of Contemporary Collage Artists.

Her Love Poem to Paper (18″x14″; recycled paper; 2022) especially reminds one of the rich place of archives, visually, tactually, and intellectually.
